Great communication, paid attention and answered questions quickly

For the most part I am happy with the system we installed. What I have communicated to Smart Wave is I think their system performance reporting is lacking. In the app provided I can only see how much power my system is generating. What I can’t see is how much power I am using from the grid. They tell me I can get that information from my monthly power bill. My son has Tesla solar and my boss has ES solar and they both get real time assessments for panel, grid and battery usage. I think total system reporting is way more valuable than just panel performance because I could make adjustments to my power usage patterns and see how I can better conserve. For example I run lamp post from dusk til about 10:30pm. I could turn that off for a cycle or two and assess the cost. I might also be able to assess the cost of large appliances like the washed and dryer on laundry day or a freeze dryer, etc. but I can’t do that, while other systems can. This feedback didn’t seem to mean too much to my Smart Wave consultant.

This company was great to work with from the sale to installation and will even do the State Tax form for you.

Straight forward process. System was exactly as we discussed. Professional installation. In my case, the savings is lower than others will see due to no net metering in my city. But I knew that going into it and am pleased with what I have.

Stayed on top of the case and showed much eagerness

I have degrees in Chemical Engineering and Sustainability and was looking forward to having a positive impact on the environment while lowering my bills by implementing Solar. Throughout the quote, design, permitting and installation process I had numerous questions as a first-time solar customer. I did not feel that SmartWave had any interest in answering those questions and in fact was told at one point that they "just wanted to get the panels on my roof." Much of my headache started AFTER I had already been approved for loan/install and thus was told repeatedly by the company that it was too late for me to change my mind. My home was constructed in 2020 and I KNEW I wanted to look into solar options so during construction I had a conduit installed to transport cables from my roof to breaker panel and electric meter ahead of time. SmartWave audited my property and said everything would work as intended but the day they showed up for install they did not have plans that had been bought off by me and they indicated that the conduit was not able to be used for the type of wiring that they were installing. This caused me to miss time at work as I had to rush home to help them get the plans in place on the days of installation which also resulted in having unattractive wiring going up the side of my house. Again, they insisted that if I did not submit to this design my contract would be cancelled and I would be charged anyways. Aside from the poor customer service, here is the worst part; I have had the system installed for just over a year now and have been paying MORE than I was before. Before installing solar, my average bill was $110.19 with three people living in the house. After installing solar, my average bill is $95.56 PLUS the 92.75 I pay towards the solar loan and this is with only two people living here. I can not recommend this company and less and am disappointed that I ever worked with them.

The owners reached out when we had some issues. The production is in line with was was projected outside of weather events. We would recommend them overall to other customers as everyone has been very friendly always kept us up date during the process.

Steve is the greatest most honest person we have ever dealt with. He didn’t have all the answered but was honest that he didn’t know, he politely said he didn’t know, but will find out, & did. We have met with dozens of solar companies and was really disappointed that they would make up some BS story and try and back peddle when confronted about it. We were just looking for honesty. We weren’t even looking to buy solar when we went to a home show, Steve asked my wife about it while I was looking at something else. She asked him one Question, same question we asked all the other solar companies. He directly said “ I don’t know, but let me find out” first time anyone had said that. So my wife dragged me over and we started talking to Steve. He dazzled us with his intellect and honesty. We talked to him for about 45 min and then signed up to have him come and give us the speech at our house. He knows his stuff! He was great. We signed up, he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with everything before we pulled the trigger to purchase. He walked us through the whole process, did a soft hand off to another rep and before we knew it we had it set! The company as whole was great, but Steve was the guy who made it all happen. The sales pitch was very informative. Installation was quick and well done. I have had my system for a year now and have had no problems. My only complaint is the SMA Energy app is a little lame. It indicates how much energy is being generated but not how much is being used or returned to the electricity company.
